UKC CCH 'PR' Crimson Dawn Sierra Red Revival ("Walter")
GRCH 'PR' Hill's Sierra Red Vindicator x CH 'PR' Sierra Legacy Queen of Hearts

Walter was a much anticipated and very welcome addition to Crimson Dawn. He comes from the old Sierra line of California Redbones that were bear dogs bred by the late OW Hill of Stockton. OW hunted his hounds in California's Sierra Neveda Mountains, which explains the kennel name. Walter comes from a frozen semen litter from one of OW's prized males, Vindicator. Walter's dam, Dutchess, comes from a litter whelped by a Sierra-bred female. Dutchess is the only living dog in Walter's pedigree. She is also a littermate sister to our Nitro male. We owe a debt of gratitude to Joanne Marcoux and Quinton Gildon of Sierra Legacy Kennels for entrusting  us with one of their Vindicator boys. When OW Hill's poor health forced him to sell Vindicator and some of his other top dogs, Vin went to Joanne, and he quickly became her "once in a lifetime" Redbone.

OW Hill loved to show his dogs in UKC coonhound bench competitions and would travel long distances to do so. Since he was a bear hunter and his dogs were not run on coons, you will not see hunt titles on his dogs, but they were accomplished hunters that over the years have produced numerous coon, bear, bobcat, and lion hounds.

Walter's pedigree contains two World Show Champions close up, WSHOWCH GRCH 'PR' Hill's Sierra Red Queen (Queen) and WSHOWCH, GRWCH, GRFCH, GRCH 'PR' Only In America (Dutch). His two grandmothers, WSHOWCH GRCH 'PR' Sierra's Red Queen and UKC GRCH, AKC CCH, 'PR' Tree Rizin' Triple Crown (Trippy) rank among the winningest female show champions in the history of the breed. His grandfathers, GRNITECH, GRCH 'PR' Comstock's Red Lightning (two times in pedigree) and WSHOWCH, GRWCH, GRFCH, GRCH 'PR' Only In America, were legends of the breed as well. Other notable hounds in Walter's five-generation pedigree include GRCH 'PR' Hill's Sierra Red Commando (two times); GRCH 'PR' Hill's Sierra Red Ace (two times); GRNITECH, GRCH 'PR' Parker's Reverend Red (two times), CH 'PR' Tiogo Valley Squaw, GRNITECH, GRCH 'PR' Hunter's Famous Amos, NITECH, GRCH 'PR' Brewin's Sundown Sue; NITECH 'PR' Timber Chopper Rocky; GRNITECH, GRCH 'PR Brunswick Little Man; NITECH, CH 'PR' Wheeler's Scooter; NATL GRCH 'PR' Sidearm's Bare Necessities, GRCH 'PR' Sidearm's Cajun Ketchup; NITECH, CH 'PR' Wright's Timber Hoss (two times); NITECH 'PR' Red Dude Edgar (two times); NITECH 'PR' Henning's Red Chief; and GRNITECH, GRCH 'PR' Tarheel Red Ace.

Walter is a big boy, the largest of the Crimson Dawn males. He has a beautiful medium-red coat color and a huge bawl mouth, as well as an impressively rapid chop. His nose is among the keenest of our dogs--he always seems to be tracking something! He is fearless and will boldly approach anything he encounters. He is atracted to gunfire and is not gun shy in any way. No yelps have ever come out of this hound. When it came time to introduce Walter to water, he hit the water with gusto and became a strong swimmer.
